EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT
NUCA NJ HEADS TO CAPITOL HILL – ADVOCACY IN ACTION
The NUCA NJ team traveled to Washington this week to meet with the offices of Representatives Pallone, Kean, and Pou, as well as Senator Kim. Discussions focused on the highway bill and the need for greater attention to ancillary utility work; SRF renewal and funding; reducing reliance on earmarks; workforce development initiatives, including our first Dozer Day; workforce safety legislation such as SB 2910; and private activity bonds as an avenue for expanded funding opportunities.
The team also participated in a full day of committee meetings with NUCA chapters and staff, providing opportunities for information sharing, collaboration, and networking. Receptions throughout the week also allowed members to connect with new leadership, including newly elected Chairman of the Board David Howell of Indiana.
In addition, the trip included discussions with NUCA’s industry partners – including the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) – regarding key legislation and ongoing industry challenges.
NUCA and NUCA NJ remain committed to monitoring and advocating for legislation that directly impacts your company’s bottom line. It’s advocacy at its best – on both the national and state levels.
